Nova odkritja o slovenski protestantiki / New Findings on the Works of Slovene Protestantism

Abstract: The first two Slovene books, Catechismus and Abecedarium, written by Primož Trubar in 1550, were printed by Peter Frentz whose printing office was located in the town of Schwäbisch Hall in Germany. This statement is based on the recent comparison of Frentzs prints with those of other printing offices as well as on the results of a reassessment of written sources, which shed new light on how these two works by Trubar came into being. Furthermore, the paper points out five new discoveries of works by 16th-century Protestant writers: Catechismus in the Glagolitic and Cyrillic scripts from 1561, The First Part of the New Testament (Ta pervi deil Noviga testamenta), and Articuli by Primož Trubar from 15571558 and 1562 and Jurij Dalmatins masters thesis De catholica et catholicis from 1572. It also discusses at length the new discovery of the second preserved copy of the Cerkovna ordninga from 1564, pointing out its significance and differences compared to the Vatican copy.

Küzmičevi skriti prevodi psalmov v Knigi molitveni 1783 / Küzmič’s Hidden Translations of the Psalms in Küzmičevi skriti prevodi psalmov v Kniga molitvena 1783 from 1783

Küzmičev prevod se v razpravi primerja s prevodom Šandorja Terplana in z drugimi prevodi.

O »preobratu« lahko govorimo že ob Kuharjevih Povestih / Lovro Kuhar’s Povesti as the Beginning of the “Turnaround”

Ključne besede: slovenska književnost | kratka proza | socialni realizem | novi realizem | proletarska književnost | Slovene literature | short story | Social Realism | New Realism | proletarian literature

Abstract: Lovro Kuhars short prose collection Povesti (1925) stands at the beginning of Slovene Social Realism, for which the term New Realism seems to be more appropriate.

Odkrivanje in osvajanje prostorov svobode v delih zgodnjih slovenskih literarnih ustvarjalk / Discovery and Conquest of Spaces of Freedom in the Works of Early Slovene Female Authors

Ključne besede: slovenska književnost | slovenske pisateljice | potopisi | aleksandrinke | 19.-20. st. | Slovene literature | Slovene female writers | travelogues | 19th-20th century

Sinopsis: Zgodnje slovenske pisateljice kategorijo prostora tematizirajo v potopisnih delih in jo problematizirajov pripovedni prozi.

Abstract: Early Slovene female authors discuss the category of space in their travelogues and problematize it in their narrative prose. The first text about foreign lands (Luiza Pesjak: "V Draždanih",1877) already presents the city as a space of freedom and a place where one can absorb art. Luiza Pesjak's attitude towards the beauty of natural, cultural, and historical sites is also revealed in her images of Italy. Female authors of the second generation who wrote at the end of the 19th century and in the beginning of the 20th century ventured into other European capitals as well as to the Orient (L. Poljanec: "Carigrajske vizije", Marica Gregorič: "Šumi Nil", etc.).

Abstract: Prešeren scholars have provided different answers to the question of when Prešeren fell inlove with Julija Primic. Some suggest it happened in 1831, while others believe it happened in1833, following Prešerens mention of that year in the sonnet Je od veselga časa teklo leto. Those who suggest the year 1831 must explain the meaning of the story in the sonnet about the Easter encounter in the Trnovo church. Many consider the Petrarchan story a fabrication. However, in 1906, Avgust Žigon wrote that the sonnet describes two actual events: In 1833, Prešeren revives the memory of the first meeting in 1831. Kidrič's convincing refutation of Žigons idea stood until 1939, when Grafenauer noted that the church was darkened on Easter Saturday, and not illuminated (razsvetljena), as is written in the sonnet. This was a key supporting argument for Žigons thesis. The author shows in the article that Grafenauer was mistaken.

Medbesedilne povezave med Slávy dcero Jana Kollárja in Djulabiami Stanka Vraza / Intertextual Connections between Jan Kollár’s Slávy dcera and Stanko Vraz’s Djulabije

Abstract: The article focuses on several intertextual connections between the opuses of the Slovak Pan-Slavist Ján Kollár and the Slovene-Croatian Illyrian poet Stanko Vraz, more specifically,on themulti-layered influence that Kollárs epic poem Slávy dcera had on Vraz's first book of poems written in the new Illyrian language, Djulabije. The first part outlines Vrazs complex links with Czech culture, which he considered to be most prestigious and central to the question of Slavic national revival. In the second part, the article is centered around the elements of Kollárs work that most inspired Vraz. The last part provides analyses of both literary works, the earlier of which is a very complex case of intertextuality in itself.

Bez imena i znaka: Nihilizam Andrićeve figuracije mostova / Without a Name or a Sign: The Nihilism of Andrič’s Figuration of Bridges

Ključne besede: srbska književnost | nihilizem | diskurz | znak | smrt | drugost | most | Serbian literature | nihilism | discourse | sign | death | bridge | Otherness

Abstract: By abolishing the conventional humanistic reading code, the paper seeks to suggest that the thanatophilian identity of the sign/bridge is prevailing in Ivo Andrićs works, and hence their mainstream ideological semantics should be re-examined in terms of the ontological identity of death. Contrary to the interpretation of the bridge as an aesthetic, ethno- or geo-historical, even economic ideologeme, the author offers an interpretation of the bridge as the unbridgeable, the face of death, a headstone, a crack in a sign. The crack in a sign corresponds to the crack in the subject through which the death is announced as a source of signifying, narration, art, and socio-political identity. The possibility of escape from that kind of logic is concealed in heroes who end up in madness, in semantic dissymmetry, thus becoming the bridges leading toward the alternate, ontological territories of Otherness.

Koncept konteksta v jezikoslovnih in diskurznih teorijah / The Concept of Context in Linguistic and Discourse Theories

Abstract: The paper provides an overview and critical examination of the concept of context as itdeveloped in various theories of linguistics and discourse analyses. The presented approachesto context belong to two main directions, i.e., social and cognitive. Socially oriented approachesto context do not develop a detailed and coherent theory of context that wouldbe broadly accepted; they even avoid giving its definition, claiming that it is too complex.Cognitive approaches, on the other hand, develop explicit theories of context, but they arecriticized for having numerous deficiencies and therefore cannot be accepted as generallyapplicable.

Analiza odrskega govora – Primer Bergerjeve uprizoritve Hlapcev (Komentirana izdaja) / An Analysis of Stage Speech: The Example of Berger’s Staging of Serf (An Annotated Edition)

Ključne besede: slovenska književnost | slovenska dramatika | odrski jezik | uprizoritveno besedilo | prozodična sredstva | fonetika | Hlapci: Komentirana izdaja | Slovene literature | Slovene drama | stage speech | playscript | prosodic element | phonetics | Ivan Cankar: Hlapci

Sinopsis: V prispevku proučujem proces nastanka uprizoritvenega besedila, ki se do določene mere razlikuje od dramske prodloge zaradi dramaturških črt, dopisovanja besedila in spreminjanja jezikovne zvrstnosti. Predvsem se osredotočam na odrski govor posameznega igralca, ki s prozodičnimi sredstvi (intonacija, register, barva glasu, premori, glasnost, hitrost govora, govorne modulacije), mimiko in gestiko ustvarjalno oblikuje posamezno vlogo.

Abstract: The article examines the process of writing a playscript, which somewhat differs from the dramatic text because of dramaturgical cuts, added text, and changes in language varieties. The focus is mainly on the stage speech of individual actors who use prosodic elements (intonation, register, timbre, pause, loudness, tempo, voice modulation), mimic, and gesture to creatively portray individual characters.
